an attempt at health

Recently, david and I watched the documentary fat sick and nearly dead, which follows a man attempting to regain his health by completing a 60 day juicing cleanse.  I would recommend watching if only for the entertainment value, but it made david and I want to attempt a smaller version of what he accomplished.

One of our goals for January is to complete a week of juice cleansing.  That means consuming only juice and a variety of nuts. After a lot of whining and complaining (on my part) and encouragement and motivation (on david's part), we are starting tomorrow morning.  Tonight, we are going to run around town gathering the fruits, vegetables and nuts we need.

We don't know the first thing about doing something like this, nor have we ever juiced in our lives, so any tips, recommendations or favorite recipes would be greatly appreciated.

I plan to keep track of the recipes tried, the amount of money spent, and just how worth it this whole thing is, so I can share it here on the blog.
Wish us luck!

I've never tried juicing, but I have a friend who does juice cleanses periodically! I really want to try it sometime. During a cleanse, she will drink only juice for breakfast and lunch, but eat "real food" (still healthy) for dinner. That way, she doesn't feel famished for a week!

Oh I've heard so much about this documentary! It's on my list!

A lot of my friends have been doing juicing (definitely not for 60 days!) but I've only heard good results! Good luck!

My husband is on day two of a week long juice cleanse (this is his third time doing it in the past 6ish month.) It all started after watching the same documentary. He says day two is the hardest but gets better after that. Good luck!

Justin watched that too and was obsessssed with the idea of juicing. Until he realized we'd have to buy a juicer and we went straight fruits/veggies this whole week and it SUCKED. We are so weak. But you'll do awesome, I'm sure :)

juicing is awesome!!! i was so inspired by consuming "life" food that I got this great cookbook called "Raw Food made Easy for 1-2 people" that is seriously AMAZING. I have had a blast learning how to make such healthy and delicious food! good luck!

I watched too during my holidays :) And couldn,t resist and bought a juicer. I've been juicing every since! I'm still eating small-ish meals to go with it (not doing full cleansing) but I love how hydrated I feel and that I get all my fruits & veggies for the day (and more!)

I've posted a few of my juices on my blog too.
